what kind of gas is recommended for the lexus es300?

well, i know that the 1997 to 2001 model es300 only needs regular 87 octane gas (as stated in the owners manual)
but i need to know does this also apply to the 1992 to 1996 es300? what octane gas is recommended for the 92 - 96 model es300.
