KN air filter and red oil question. Is it normal for oil to drip off the filter?

I have purchased a KN air filter and placed it in my closet for 1 week. I took it out and noticed lots of oil accumulated on the bottom of the box. The box that the filter came in also had the stain from the red oil dripping off the filter.
