Engine Ping like noise while car is running....?

I have a 2004 Grand Prix GT2. It has about 101,000 miles on it. It makes an engine ping like noise while my car is running. I can only hear it when my car is stopped at a red light or something. It is like a ticking noise, that sound slike it is coming

I can't tell you what it is, but from your description, I can tell you what it isn't.

You say the noise happens even for a couple of minutes after the engine is turned off.
