Minivans.. I'm actually thinking of getting one.. Opinions? Best deals on a low mileage used one for 11k?

I have a new family and we need a 'family' car (bigger). I have a sedan that the wife will drive now we need a second car.

Of course my grand, macho dreams were the tough SUV but looking at prices and gas mileage, it just doesn't look practical.

According to Consumer Reports and personal experience, don't buy a Dodge or Chrysler minivan. They are terrible and usually when they have problems, it's major. I've known 4 people who owned them and they all had major issues. Consumer Reports ranks them

Ford Reveals 'New' Flex Crossover

DETROIT – Ford Motor Co. took the wraps off of the latest iteration of its Flex sport-utility vehicle — or should I say minivan. What is the Flex anyway?

Technically it’s a crossover sport-utility vehicle and when asked, Mark Fields, the president of the Americas for Ford, said it was for people who wanted three-row seating but didn’t need off-road capability.

In other words, it’s a minivan. Indeed, it was created to replace the Ford Windstar, which was decommissioned in 2006.

Unfortunately, the vehicle has never sold as well as the forgettable minivan that it replaced. The Flex’s unique styling, which is reminiscent of a Mini Cooper Clubman, is somewhat polarizing, but in general the vehicle has been met with good reviews. Its main problem is that it competes with minivans but doesn’t have some of their best features – like sliding doors.

It also is expensive. It starts at $29,465, $1,000 more than the Explorer and $4,000 more than a Toyota Sienna minivan. Through October, the existing Flex has sold 23,000 vehicles in the U.S. That’s a miniscule number – about one-fifth of the Explorer’ sales volume.
