if a diesel engine runs hot will that cause it to not crank over?

My truck usually runs at 180 degrees. Today I noticed it up to 210. I shut it off and then tried to start again but it would only turn over once. I also noticed smoke probably while I tried to crank it. I think it was from starter. Will it crank like
What kind of engine? Was it knocking, could be a fuel knock if it is for an injector going bad. Unless your cylinder liner had very bad electrolosis it is not common for coolant to get in the cylinder unless the head gasket blowed. Need some more
