I have a 1994 Buick LeSabre Limited with a 3.8L with overdrive trans. It lacks power and shifts too soon.?

Check engine light was on and had diagnostic run and it came up: MAF sensor and throttle pos. sensor. I changed these and it stopped the car from dying periodically but now I have great loss in power and trans wants to shift into 2nd by 15mph and 3rd
A very similiar thing like this happened to me with a park avenue, so i disconnected the battery for a minute then re fitted it did this twice over a couple of months and never happened agained, was something to do with the computor ,or go to a good reputable
